Maximum bids and sliding end times
Registration notifications with Reg Match
Maximum bids The DVLA Timed online auction runs on the principle of “maximum bids”. Bidders submit “maximum bids” which are invisible to other bidders. Bidding starts at the Starting price*. If there is any bidding on a lot, the auction system will automatically increase bids on behalf of bidders in £10 increments. Once a bidder’s “maximum bid” has been reached, the system will stop bidding for them. If two bidders submit the same maximum bid, the system will award the highest bid to the bidder who fist submitted their bid.
Reg Match Reg Match searches our DVLA Auctions of Personalised Registrations for you automatically and will notify you when something related to what you are looking for is currently available or will be in an upcoming auction.
Sliding end time The “sliding end time” is a mechanism to prevent auction sniping, or the practise of rival bidders outbidding each other with just seconds to go before the deadline. Every lot has a published “end time” clearly visible on the website at all times. This is the deadline by which all bids must be received. Any bidding in the last 30 minutes before the end time, the end time will slide by up to a further 30 minutes, thereby allowing bidding to reach its natural conclusion.
Here, you can use the add button to add keywords that you would like a registration to relate to and press ‘Confirm’ to save your selection. Reg Match will instantly show you any current or upcoming registrations that are relevant to your keywords. You can even filter by specific auctions with the dropdown menu as well as change or remove your keywords at any time with the “Edit Keywords” button. You may not see a registration you want immediately, but you can set email notifications to let you know when any registrations related to your keywords are going to be available soon.
To use Reg Match, navigate to your account page, and select Reg Match from the available options.
The current winning bid price for each registration is on view on the website at all times.
