Chapter 2: The Rainbow River
The next morning, Lily woke up with excitement bubbling inside her. She couldn’t wait to see what adventures awaited her and Bella today. After a quick breakfast, she rushed outside, calling for Bella. The butterfly fluttered down from a flower and landed gently on Lily’s shoulder.
“Good morning, Lily!” Bella chirped. “Are you ready for another adventure?”
Lily nodded eagerly. “Absolutely! Where are we going today?”
Bella led Lily to the edge of the garden where a sparkling river flowed. The water shimmered with all the colours of the rainbow, creating a mesmerizing sight. “This is the Rainbow River,” Bella explained. “It’s a magical place where the water is as colourful as a rainbow and full of life.”
Lily’s eyes widened with wonder. “It’s beautiful, Bella! Let’s explore it!”
They stepped onto a small wooden boat that was tied to the shore. As they floated down the river, they marvelled at the vibrant colours dancing beneath the surface. Fish of all shapes and sizes swam alongside the boat, their scales reflecting the rainbow hues of the water.
As they continued downstream, they heard soft sobbing. Following the sound, they came upon a family of fish huddled together near the riverbank. The fish looked sad and worried.
Lily gently approached them. “Hello, what’s wrong?” she asked kindly.
One of the fish, a large trout with shimmering scales, looked up at her with teary eyes. “Our home is in trouble,” he said. “The water is becoming polluted, and many of our friends are getting sick. We don’t know what to do.”
