vision. The Lord Himself provides the sure and permanent cure. It miracu lously works in every instance when truly applied by faith. The Lord Jesus Christ, the Great Physician, has said, “He that heareth my word, and believ- eth on Him that sent me, hath ever lasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is p a s s e d from death unto life” (John 5:24). You can not hide from God no matter what you do. He meets you at life’s every turn. He knows your thoughts that blight and bum. He grieves when His own Son is spumed. You cannot hide from God! Many parents have learned that a pat on the back helps develop their child's character if it's given often enough, early enough, and low enough. ORANGE PRAYERS Stranger than fiction are the ways in which God works His wonders to per form. A minister of the Gospel was crossing the Atlantic by ship. The Cap tain asked him to address the passen gers, so he chose as his topic, “An swered Prayer.” An avowed atheist was present. He made everyone awa/re of his contempt for the things of Christ, openly ridiculing the preacher. Several days later, while strolling on deck, the man passed an elderly woman sitting in one of the chairs. She appeared to be fast asleep. Since her hands were open, he thought he would have a little fun with her. Two oranges, which had been taken from his stateroom he placed in her open hands. Returning a short time later, he found the elderly woman happily munching the delicious fruit. As he greeted her, she beamed bright ly, saying, “I simply must tell you how exceedingly good my Father is to me.” The man couldn’t believe his ears. Be cause of her age, surely her father couldn’t have been living, much less be on board the ship. The old saint quickly explained, “You don’t under stand. I’m talking about my heavenly Father, God. Here I was so sick, rest ing on deck, and praying that the Lord would send me an orange. Being sea sick for days, nothing sounded appeal- 26
ing but fresh orange. I must have fallen asleep praying. Awakening, I discov ered the Lord hadn’t just sent me one orange, but two. Mister, God answers prayer.” That made a tremendous im pression on the man. In the hours that followed he was under deep conviction, and through th is simple testimony found Christ as Saviour. How has the Lord worked in your life? Remember, where prayer focuses, power falls. For the effectual fervent prayer of a right eous man availeth much.
As far as church on Sunday, there isn't much point going in the .morning if you plan to go to the devil in the evening.
IMMORTALITY Everyone is interested in the future, not only how it will affect the nations of the world, but also his own human destiny. A leading Nobel-Prize-winning chemist reecntly declared, “Theoretical ly, man is quite immortal. His body tissues replace themselves. He is a self repairing machine. Yet he gets old and dies. The reasons for all this are still a mystery of life.” Although such things may appear to puzzle medical science, the Word of God gives us a ready answer for death. The Bible states, “ Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin: so death passed on all men, for that all have sinned.” “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom. 6:23). Death is finally overcome as, by faith, one receives the Lord Jesus Christ and is bom again from above. The Lord Jesus Christ assured us, “He that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24).
When we die, we leave behind us all we have, and take with us only all we are.
