jealous over you with a godly jeal ousy : for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth an other Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him” (II Cor. 11:2-4). Some may wonder at these words and ask if it is possible that there are men who would preach another Jesus. Yes, they have, and they do so even now. There is the Jesus re vealed in the Bible and there is a man-made Jesus whom men have preached as a substitute for the real one. Paul goes on to say in that same chapter: “For such are false apos tles, deceitful workers, transforming
themselves i n t o the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be trans formed as the ministers of right eousness; whose end shall be accord ing to their words” (II Cor. 11 ¡IS IS). Paul had to face the same situation in connection w ith the Galatian churches as he wrote: “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another, but there are some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said be fore, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel to you than that ye have received, let him be accursed” (Gal. 1:6-9).
