LUXURY BAMBOO COMPOSITE DECKING Leaders in sustainable composite decking material technologies

WHAT IS COMPOSITE DECKING? The hassle-free alternative to wood decking

We all love the look of wood decking, but not its drawbacks. Quality composite decking offers you the beauty of timber decking, but in a hassle-free, durable option that’s longer lasting, gentler on the environment, and virtually maintenance free. Cutting-edge engineering is bringing even greater structural advancements and lifestyle benefits to composite decking, and thoughtful detail to aesthetics now gives composite an even more natural appearance in a greater range of colours and textures. The international popularity of composite stands as testament to its functionality and liveability. Say goodbye to the drawbacks of wood decking.

Wood requires on-going, time con- suming, and costly maintenance and may need environmentally-harmful stains, sealants, and chemicals for its preservation.

Wood may rot, warp, twist and splinter over time, creating a surface that is unsafe and unkind to bare feet.

Insects and termites feed and burrow into wood, which can compromise the integrity of your deck.

Wood fades over time and is often prone to staining, scratching, and marks.

Felling trees to make wood decking contributes to deforestation and the destruction of our precious ecosystems.

COMPOSITE vs WOOD

Use the chart below for a direct comparison of key features to consider when choosing the right material for your deck

COMPOSITE DECKING

WOOD DECKING

Embodies the look, textures, nuances, & hues found in natural timber

Beautiful shades and grains

AESTHETICS

On-going, costly, time consuming maintenance like staining, sealing, & sanding required for most wood upkeep Hard woods offer greater durability than soft woods at a heftier price point; all wood is susceptible to warping, twisting, splitting, & splintering

Long-lasting integrity, with built-in resistance to cracking, warping, twisting, and splintering

DURABILITY

Only the occasional cleaning is necessary

MAINTENANCE

Prone to moisture-related issues such as rotting, mildew, or mould

Highly resistant to moisture

MOISTURE

Colour protection maintains inherent colour for the entire lifespan of the board

Colour fades substantially over time

UV FADE

Easily cut and shaped, but difficult to bend for custom curved designs

WORKABILITY

Easily cut, shaped, and even bent for custom curved designs

TYPES OF COMPOSITE

Composite materials & raw ingredients

Composite comes in different varieties, styles, and qualities. Before purchasing composite, familiarise yourself with your options in order to choose the best material for your job.

Wood composite

Bamboo composite

PVC composite

Wood composite, often called Wood-Plastic composite or WPC, combines wood fibres with plastic particles for a hardier alternative to traditional decking. Consider the type of plastic used in a WPC as well as whether it is virgin or recycled to evaluate the overall carbon footprint of your decking.

Bamboo composite is the top-tier composite option thanks to the extreme resiliency, durability, lighter weight, and environmental sustainability benefits of bamboo.

PVC composite is a very lightweight, high performing alternative to wood, these products offer a longer lifespan but shorter span capability when compared to natural timber.

TYPES OF COMPOSITE

Composite capping & shape

Composite comes in different shapes, styles, and qualities. Before purchasing a composite, familiarise yourself with your options in order to choose the best composite material for your job.

Capped vs uncapped

Hollow, arched, and solid boards

Capped

Uncapped

Hollow

Arched

Solid

Capping offers a protective outer layer for composite boards, extending their lifespan, and durability, and heightening their resistance to scratching, staining, and weathering. Capped, or co-extruded, composite is high quality and performs better over time than the more economical uncapped composite, sometimes called first-generation or mono-extruded composite.

Composite boards are designed in several styles. Hollow boards use less material, making them lighter weight and easier to transport. However, their hollow chambers must be carefully covered by trim or fascia boards to keep out moisture and debris. Solid boards are heavier and hardier, with greater span capabilities and less installa- tion considerations than hollow boards, and a longer lifespan.

DECKING THAT’S GENTLE ON THE EARTH

Not a single tree cut down

Eva-Last® has been at the forefront of the green building industry since its inception in 2007. We are dedicated to consistently improving how we serve the environment and our clients. From the recycled and renewable raw ingredients we use to create our products, to the solar power we harness to manufac- ture, we are proud to offer holistically sustainable building products. When you choose Eva-Last® composite decking, you’re choosing the best solution for both you and the environment. Eva-Last® products are the low-maintenance, reliable alternative to wood that consistently outperform timber and other composite materials. They’re also the environmentally friendly material choice that is gentler on the Earth.

Made from recycled & sustainable materials

Zero waste in the production

No harmful chemicals needed

Sustainable manufacturing practices

BAMBOO WASTES LESS & PROVIDES MORE

Eva-Last® is a leader in bamboo composite production and innovation. Bamboo is one of Mother Nature’s best kept secrets. It can grow up to 50 times faster than timber and releases 35 percent more oxygen into our air than most hardwood trees. It can be made into composite with only 2 percent wastage (compared to over 80 percent wastage with timber), and is naturally antibacterial. Eva-Last® uses bamboo to create composite that is better performing and better for the earth.

USE OF RECYCLED PLASTIC

Eva-Last® is committed to using only recycled plastics instead of virgin plastics. In 2020 alone that added up to over 26 000 tons of plastic reused instead of being dumped into landfills. Recycling one ton of plastic results in carbon dioxide savings of approximately 0.73 tons – the same as travelling 4000 km in a car.

SOLAR POWERED EXTRUSION LINES

Traditional manufacturing is an energy-intensive endeavour. That’s why Eva-Last® has switched to manufacturing with solar power, and is saving 2000 tons in CO2 every single day.

HOW IT’S MADE

1

2

3

4 5

Eva-Last ® starts with a unique combination of bamboo fibre and recycled plastic pellets to create the ideal mixture.

Intense heat and pressure are applied to form a large, con- tinuous block of composite material.

Each colour is artistically blended as the composite is moulded into its final shape.

The board is then embossed with a distinct grain pattern (or two colour tones for dual- surfaced boards).

In the final stage, the co-extruded composite is cooled and then cut to length.

Note: Each Eva-Last® decking technology uses its own unique methods and manufacturing techniques in its creation. The process above details the general outline and is not specific to any one brand.

THE EVA-LAST® RANGE Eva-Last® offers three unique decking technologies, each with their own distinct characteristics, benefits, look, and feel. Discover which composite range is right for you.
