Once you select a contractor, it’s time to put eve- rything in writing. Make sure you have a proper contract that includes the contractor’s contact in- formation and permit numbers, the scope of the work, detailed costs, applicable warranties and any other details relevant to the project. Also, check if the com- pany is legally registered with the appropriate authorities and hasn’t been the subject of consu- mer complaints in the past. Keep in mind that a serious contractor should have comprehensive insu- rance that includes liability cove- rage. In addition to any other questions you may have, don’t be afraid to ask potential hires about their experience, specializations, pre- vious projects, work process and methods.
