Les six équipes de la ligue de football junior du Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien (CSDCEO) ont participé à un jamboree de football, au dôme sportif de Russell, le 17 avril dernier. Detail Design and Class Environmental Assessment Study Highway 417 Reconstruction, Casselman to Dunvegan GWP 451-98-00

THE PROJECT The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained Ainley Group to complete the Detail Design and Class Environmental Assessment Study for improvements to Highway 417 from approximately 1.2 km east of the County Road 7 interchange (Casselman) to approximately 0.8 km west of the County Road 30 interchange (Dunvegan). The study limits are as shown in the key map below. The proposed improvements include reconstruction of the highway mainline, resurfacing of the Highway 138 and County Road 20 interchange ramps, and associated traffic staging including the construction of cross-median transfer lanes and temporary interchange ramps to accommodate traffic during construction. Also included in the work is the replacement of structural culverts, within the MTO right-of-way, along the Leo Denis Municipal Drain (County Road 7), the rehabilitation of the structural culvert at the Moose Creek/Moose Creek Lower Municipal Drain crossing on Highway 417 and the replacement of select non-structural culverts within the study limits.

THE PROCESS This study is following the approved planning process for a Group ‘B’ undertaking in accordance with the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (2000). The study includes an assessment of potential impacts from the undertaking on the study area environment. At the end of the Detailed Design Study, a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) will be prepared and made available for 30-day public review period. Notification of submission of the TESR will be published in local newspapers at the start of the review period. PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE An online Public Information Centre (PIC) is being held to present the recommended plan for improvements including highway, structural, and drainage improvements, as well as the proposed construction staging and traffic management plans including detour routes during highway and ramp closures. Details on the existing conditions of the biophysical and socio- economic environments, and the MTO Class Environmental Assessment process will also be provided. The PIC will follow an ‘online’ format with material posted and available for viewing and comment from April 24, 2019 until May 22, 2019 at www.Hwy417Casselman-Dunvegan.ca. COMMENTS Interested persons are invited to view the website for details on the Highway 417 improvements and are encouraged to provide comments online, or to the MTO or Project Consultant using the contact information provided below.
