Behind the Scenes at ALM Tasmania

Serving the Hospitality industry from the ground up Step into your local independent bottle shop or order a refreshing drink at a Tasmanian pub, and chances are, it might have passed through the hands of Australian Liquor Marketers (ALM). Behind the scenes, ALM drives Tasmania’s dynamic hospitality and retail liquor industry, with two warehouses based in Tasmania: one in Launceston and a massive 6,000-square-meter facility in Hobart. With an impressive range of nearly 4,500 lines of alcoholic and non-alcoholic products, ALM Tasmania delivers thousands of cases weekly to independent liquor retailers and almost 1,000 hospitality venues across the state. The operation of this vast logistics network is driven by a passionate and dedicated team of approximately 60 local employees, working in warehousing, operations, and sales. Additionally, ALM generates indirect employment for over 120 people, further solidifying its pivotal role in Tasmania’s economy.

Manager in mid 2024, ALM Tasmania has entered a vibrant new chapter. “There is an incredible sense of excitement and energy at ALM as we roll out new sales programs and product ranges,” says Bricknell. “Operating in an island state definitely presents its unique challenges, but we’ve made significant strides in ensuring that our stock levels remain reliable.” He continues, “With over 140 suppliers and 4,500 products to manage, stock control was a challenge. However, through closer collaboration with suppliers and freight companies, we’ve been able to significantly improve delivery times and reliability.” ALM’s recent investments in its Hobart and Launceston warehouses, including expanded racking systems, are creating even more space fnew product lines. This means that hospitality venues have greater flexibility to tailor their offerings, ensuring their customers always have access to the latest and greatest products.
