A. This is a tremendously signifi cant question in the field of theol ogy. When our Lord died on the cross Satan was absolutely out of the picture, except that he was the instrument causing Christ's death. The penalty was paid to Cod. The Saviour shed His blood as an atone ment for our sins. The price was paid to the infinitely righteous and holy Judge. The law demands per fection, or the payment of inno cent blood for sin. Christ fulfilled both of these aspects for us in providing redemption. The trans action was entirely between Cod the Father and God the Son. Q. Boise, Ida. "Is Deuteronomy 22:5 for our time? I find people seem to ignore this. Where can I read more on it?" A. You will find help in any good Bible commentary. A good one volume help is the commentary by Jameison, Faucet and Brown. (The six volumed set is even bet ter.) It is very well done and is reverent and understandable. Now, is Deuteronomy 22:5 for our time? This question points up the impor tant Biblical principle of grammat ical and historical interpretation. This means that we interpret the Bible according to the literal mean ing. The meaning of the sentences is to be held in proper relationship according to laws of grammar both in Hebrew and Creek. God said certain things to Adam which are not exactly applicable to us now. We do not tell little children when they go into a park that they can touch all the trees except the one in the middle. We do not tell indi viduals that on the seventh day of the week they are to go up to a temple and bring a lamb or some other offering. Things must be

considered in their historical pe riods. At the same time there are certain principles which are all comprehensive according to Cod. This is true with Deuteronomy 22:5 where we read that a woman is not to wear that which pertains to a man. This is an abomination to the Lord. Cod has given different apparel so that men may be dis tinguished from women and vice versa. When there is confusion so ciety goes further down in sin and degradation. Q. San Diego, Calif. "Some feel that Noah's ark has been located. How do you feel about this? Would you suggest some place where ad ditional information on this sub ject might be obtained?" A. No one knows at all that the ark has actually been located. There have been a number of claims but nothing is substantiated. Mt. Ara rat belongs to a country controlled by Russia. The communist author ities have denied any explorers the privilege of going up to search for Noah's ark. It is supposedly in the perennial snows of this area. If you would like information as to what magazines in which articles have appeared, write to the Biola Library at the address on the inside cover of this publication. By the way, the customary pic ture of Noah's ark is a boat with a prow, a stern and a round bottom. Many scholars believe it was flat- bottom and square at both ends. Noah was not going anywhere in that ark except for safety. He sim ply needed something that would float with the greatest possible car rying capacity. He followed the di mensions found in the Bible in the book of Genesis. Page 27
