2. The Word of Cod tells us that what we say must be the TRUTH. We must not lie to one another. Perhaps you are thinking that it is unnecessary to mention this fact since truthfulness should be a part of every Christian's life. That is true, but how often do believers distort a statement for their own benefit. Do ministers ever over­ estimate the number of converts in an evangelistic meeting? er speech. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue." Proverbs 21:23 states, "He who keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble." Perhaps there have occasions when we have felt like Job as he said, "How long will you torment me and break me in pieces with words?" (Job 19:2). Have there been times when we have been guilty of breaking others by the way in which we have spoken to them or in what we have said about them? Words have great power and can be used to build up or tear down.
