THE KI NG ' S BUS I NE S S heard of Christ and was saved. We told him the story of the Philippian jailer and he said “ If that man could have his house saved, I believe God will save mine.” He and we persevered in prayer and effort. The Devil brought in serious oppositions and hindrances, some of his relatives were carried away hundreds of miles to prevent them from becoming Christians, but God triumphed and over twenty members of his family have made a public profession of faith in Christ by baptism. In gratitude to God for sav ing his house this man brought a whole month’s pay to the church and gave it as an offering to the Lord, to show his thankfulness for the salvation of his house. A heathen man became our servant years ago and was soon brought to Christ. Today there are over thirty relatives saved, and a number of them are preaching the gospel. These are facts. Some time ago a Christian lady in America told me with a breaking heart that she had a son who had gone far into sin, was a drunkard, had been in jail and was like to break her heart. He was wandering over the world and she did not know where he was at that time. She told me that ever since that boy was born, twenty-six years ago, she had never missed a day to pray for his sal vation, but instead of being saved he was far away from God. I pointed out to her the teaching of the Scripture on the subject and finally remarked that many years ago she had by faith re ceived the first half of the promise to the Philippian jailer, “ believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved” and she stopped there. God gave her what she believed for. I asked her if God would not be equally faithful to fulfill the second half of His promise, “ and thy house” if she believed for it as she did for the first half. She said “ Yes, I never looked at it in that light before, and from this moment I will thank God

for the salvation of my son. We knelt together, in faith, claimed the fulfill ment of this promise, and in four months’ time I had a letter from her saying, “ You will be glad to hear that my son is back with me, that he is saved and that he is now the joy of my heart.” A MESSAGE FROM HEAVEN “ One Friday afternoon a broken hearted young woman was in Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles,” said Dr. Locke of Los Angeles recently, “ selecting a quiet spot in which on the morrow to lay away the precious dust of her dear little mother. “ She was overwhelmed with grief and felt unequal to the task of facing the world with her unutterable loneliness of heart. How could she live without the little mother whom she had tender ly cared for throughout more than two years of invalidism? “ When suddenly out of the skies there came, and fell at her feet, like a petal blown from a rose, a tiny copy of the Gospel of John. To be sure it was dropped out of an aeroplane on its way to Exposition Park in preparation for the Bible Sunday celebration, but was it any the less of a gift from the God of all sorrowing hearts? “ And the message which it brought to the sobbing girl was: ‘Let not your heart be troubled. In my Father’s house are many mansions. I go to prepare a place for you. If it were not so I would have told you.’ “ She picked it up reverently, read its sweet message of hope, and was com forted.” m m NO DECREASE HERE The official Catholic directory shows an increase of 186,200 members in that church in the United States in the past year. The total membership is now 27,- 650,000. The secular clergy number 15,400 while the priests of religious orders number 21,000.
