Lesson Story: Now when David was taking care of his father’s sheep he was faithful and trustworthy, and we remem ber when the bear and the lion came to kill the sheep, David was brave and killed both the bear and the lion. God helped David as he watched over his sheep. We also know that David was brave when the great giant Goliath came out to meet him, for David was trusting in God to help him gain a victory over the giant. David was strong and brave for every duty, for hé loved the Lord, and the Lord helped him at all times. Charles, I wonder if you remember some thing that happened one day when David was down in the field watching the sheep, .and a call came for him to come up to a place where all his older brothers were gathered together, and God’s prophet Samuel was there, and the prophet was looking for someone to

THE K I N G ’ S BUS I NE S S anoint to be king after Saul? (Review incident of David’s anointing, emphasiz ing God’s choice according to heart, and not according to outward appearance.) David’s beautiful character was shown in his treatment of Saul, who caused David to flee from one place to another, and how David showed mercy toward Saul his enemy, and would not harm him, but said God would remove Saul from being king when the right time came. Now a number of years have passed and Saul is dead, and God is ready to have David take his place as king over a part of his people, and so we have the crown which will help us to remember that David was crowned king, and he was God’s choice, After a few years David became king not-only over a part of God’s people but over them all, and the people all loved David and were very happy when he became their king. Do you think God would have chosen David to be king over His people if he had not been faithful as a shepherd boy taking care of his father’s sheep? No, indeed, He would not, for if we are not faithful and trustworthy as boys ' and girls we will not be so when we grow up. God needs brave, faithful people to work for Him in many places, and He watches the boys and girls and when He sees them doing their work well, and are trusting in Him to help them every day, He knows they will prove faithful as men and women and He chooses them to do work for Him. David did just what our memory verse says. Let us say it. “ Trust in the Lord and do good.” Girls, how are you do ing the work mother asks you to do in the home? Are you faithful as you care for baby brother or sister, and if mother asks you to set the table or dust, do you do your best?' Boys, do you do your work the best you know how, and can mother give you some work to do and go away and leave you and when she returns will she find it done well? Do you all show a sweet spirit about
