The Poker

Your host will introduce the poker team and explain how the evening will work. We will start with a 20–25-minute poker lesson which we like to call our ‘Beginner to Winner’ session. The session will be a walk though of the ‘poker hand rankings’ and a sample hand of ‘Texas Hold-em.’

For those with a little more poker experience we can have a separate table where players can pick up tips and ask questions of our highly experienced poker team as well as benefiting from a refresher before we start competitive play.

As the cards are dealt and the chips stack high, we are determined to ensure that you experience an evening that not only celebrates the thrill of competition but also embodies our values. We operate with integrity and prioritize responsible gambling, so no money will change hands on the card tables. However, there’s no need to worry. Our considerate and progressive nature means that General Demolition will be donating a generous cash amount to a charity nominated by the outright winner on the night, and prizes will also be awarded to the top performers!

Join us for our ‘Texas Hold’em’ poker tournament Open to all - No previous experience required ‘Beginner to Winner’ Master Class and experienced poker team to guide you throughout the evening Advanced Master Class for more experienced players Play completely ‘Risk Free’ - No money required to buy-in Each guest receives a set amount of chips with a set amount of reloads per guest All guests stay in the competition for the duration of the poker evening Charity donation and prizes for the winners!

This is where those new to the game can learn completely from scratch.

Speakers and Hosts

Caspar Barry

A premium poker experience at The Royal Automobile Club

Caspar delivered his first paid speech to BP in the summer of 2004 since when he has delivered more than 2,000 speeches and training sessions in over 30 countries to nearly 500 clients including Google, Visa, IBM, Paypal, AUDI, Volvo, Shell, Esso, Microsoft, Sainsbury’s, Network Rail, Tesco, ASDA, PWC, Deloittes, E&Y, KPMG, Seimens, McDonalds, and Redbull. Caspar speaks in his capacity as a former professional poker player who lived and worked in Las Vegas for three years and went on to become the UK’s premier poker TV commentator and the poker advisor on Casino Royale. He uses the metaphor of poker as a vehicle to communicate universally resonant messages around the need for individuals and companies to take risk and seize opportunities that leave audiences informed, inspired and empowered to take better decisions to achieve their objectives and goals.

While Caspar is happy to be billed as a “motivational speaker” he strives to occupy a relatively unique place in the speaking world with the delivery of intellectually-robust, challenging messages from the academic literature on risk and decision-making in a funny, high energy, inspirational manner. Story, maths, metaphor and logic are brought together to create a speech that is funny, challenging, thought-provoking and, often, genuinely transformative.

The Committee Room offers an unparalleled setting, combining sophistication with a touch of classic charm. Nestled within one of London’s most prestigious private members’ clubs the elegant decor, paired with top-tier service, creates an atmosphere to relax and enjoy the evening. With its rich history and prime location, the Committee Room ensures a memorable and premium poker experience.
