Hird Pocket Guide

Large basket Most rough terrain boom lifts have large baskets so multiple operatives can work together comfortably, carrying tools, for long periods without having to descend to ground level. The Genie S-60FE’s large (2.44m wide) 3-way entry basket has a 300kg capacity, enough for two operatives plus tools.

Telescopic boom Telescopic booms (also called stick booms) have one or more boom sections that extend outwards in a straight line. This commonly makes them faster and easier to reach a desired working height compared to articulating booms. The Genie S-60FE hybrid boom lift has a maximum working height of 20.6m, and a maximum working outreach of 12.3m. A knuckle joint helps operatives boom over obstacles.

Anti-crush alarm Modern boom lifts have smart safety devices designed to protect operatives against injury. On this boom, there is an anti-crush alarm that alerts ground

personnel if the operative in the basket makes contact with the control panel. The Genie

Non-marking tyres This particular hybrid rough

terrain boom lift has foam-filled non-marking tyres. This makes it possible to operate the platform over sensitive ground and in indoor clean environments, increasing its versatility and utilisation rate. The Genie S-60FE is also a third lighter than comparable hybrid telescopic boom lifts, enhancing this versatility still further. For example, it is ideal for working on sports arena construction and maintenance or warehouse construction.

S-60FE has a range of other safety-orientated functions, including descent tilt and motion alarms, a flashing beacon

Two power options The latest hybrid rough terrain booms can be operated with two power options – either diesel and electric power or all-electric power delivered by highly efficient batteries. The Genie S-60FE can be operated for a week in hybrid mode on one tank of fuel and for a whole day on one battery charge. The boom lift can also recharge its battery in hybrid mode and can be operated using a 110v mains electric cable.

4x4 drive system An essential feature of hybrid rough terrain telescopic boom lifts is the 4-wheel drive system that maximises traction, helping the platform to cope with the most challenging conditions. This 4×4 capability is augmented with active oscillating axles. The Genie S-60FE has an onboard computer that dynamically controls power delivery to each wheel to maximise grip, contributing to gradeability of 45 o .
