One of the reasons for the upward trend is the increase in farmgate green lentil prices in the USA compared to a downward trend for cereals. As a result, reports suggest there are a lot of first-time green lentil farmers this year. With the 2024 harvest almost completed, trade reports suggest that 55-60% of the crop is between good and excellent quality. The biggest export destination for U.S. green lentils is Canada, with a 4-year average volume of between 90-100 thousand tonnes.
