FYLDEHAWKS AVIEWFROMABOVE(NOHOLDSBARRED!)BYSTEVEGOUGH
When I was contacted by Mark Nelson in the summer about coaching with the senior group with the Hawks, I was delighted to be able to say yes and to also look
Injuries played a part in the early season results and as these players return our fortunes will change, recruiting players will also improve the situation and I would just like to welcome Rob Williamson
forward to developing young players in the aspirational pathway, hopefully leading on to the first team and beyond. I wish to thank everyone who has given me and Dee a very warm welcome. Reality hit home, the honeymoon period over and return of a “Legend” as long since gone! It’s now down to hard graft, determination and constant communication.
(Tarleton) and Robbie Kincart (Kendal) to the
club. Both players have come to the attention of first team coaches and players, and I am sure they will be pushing hard for 1st team.
I’m indebted to Jay, the Hawks Manager, who has been a massive support bringing players in to play and helping to fill the void. The plan going forward is to offer the Hawks as an aspirational pathway leading to performance and the first team. This is not going to be short term; we must have a plan to continue development throughout the club and beyond, seek out the talent and nurture it and we will see the benefits in years to come.
The challenge with the Hawks is far greater than was first envisaged. Having spent the last two months working with the Hawks, there have been many challenges, not least getting 15 players on the pitch! The challenge will remain each week, but as a club we cannot continue in ignorant bliss and hope that we can turn this around! The Hawks are one conceded game away from expulsion from the league. Perhaps the wider club should be aware of this challenge and come together to seek solutions. Hopefully as a club. We start to embrace these challenges and move forward. Our vision is Developing young, talented players. Of course, to do this, we do need to re-engage past players, seek out new players and also develop our own from within. Our 16s and 17s have some talent but are also striving to be supported by the club.
Finally, the Hawks now have great off field organisation, with coach, team manager and medical staff each week. We would like to add to this in future with a forwards coach. But we have a strong base with players regularly training and playing. We need more, though, so if you are aware of any players who either left the game for some reason or have seen any players who we could talk to from other clubs we would be more than happy to have a chat.
