After more than 50 years in the cattle business — and over 75 years of owning cattle — I’m proud to share the complete dispersal of the 7P Ranch herd. What started as a 4-H project back in 1951 grew into a lifetime of raising cattle I truly believe in — cattle built to work, last, and make a difference for the folks who raise them. From the very beginning, my goal has been simple: raise cattle with sound structure, strong mothers, and genetics that perform in the real world. Over the years, it has been a privilege to see 7P cattle go to work in herds across Texas and beyond, and to know that the breeding decisions we made have helped other ranchers build their programs. Contributing to the progress of the Simmental and SimBrah breeds has always been a point of pride for me. This dispersal includes the foundation of our program — females that helped build the herd and the replacement heifers, bulls and calves to continue raising the bar. Every animal represents decades of careful selection, hard work, and a love for this business that has never faded. Equally important are the people I’ve met along the way — customers, fellow breeders, and friends who trusted our program and our cattle. Your support has made it possible for me to spend a lifetime doing what I love, and that is something I will never take for granted. I’m proud of what 7P Ranch has built over the years, and I know these cattle will continue to do what they were bred to do — perform, last, and make their new owners proud. Thank you for being part of this story. As I have always said, being in the cow business has kept my “quality of living very low” (monetarily), but in actuality my life has been blessed with wonderful faith, family, friends and the gift of being able to live my passion and dream. As much as I like to “jerk chains,” I guess, I am a pretty “rich” man.
