BOARD OF DIRECTORS Oversees sustainability strategy
Sustainability is a critical component of our business strategy, and our board is actively engaged in and dedicated to its oversight and accountability on behalf of our stakeholders. Responsibilities are formally delegated to board committees in accordance with their respective charters, as shown in the chart to the right. With accomplished backgrounds across multiple industries, our board provides strategic guidance that drives our ongoing business success. ESRT’s sustainability strategy and goals are embedded across all departments and supported through cross-functional collaboration. Our integrated, comprehensive, all-department approach to sustainability is supported by ESRT’s Sustainability Committee, directed by our SVP, Director of Energy and Sustainability. The committee meets quarterly and includes standing members such as our Chairman and CEO, President, CFO, COO of Property, CRO of Property, SVP of Property Management, SVP of Design and Construction, and leaders of the legal, marketing, accounting, and investor relations teams. ESRT ensures direct accountability and a continued sustainability focus through incorporation of sustainability metrics into executive management compensation, both as part of annual bonuses and long-term performance-based equity awards.
