Strobe / Horn
The fire strobe and horn are built into one unit operated by 24VDC.
Typically, the fire strobe is mounted to the front of the electrical door.
On
some applications, remote fire strobes are mounted for indication
elsewhere in the facility. When the alarm is activated, an auditory horn
will
sound and a flashing strobe light will be visible.
Fire Suppression Agent
The fire suppression agent generator is activated by the 24VDC signal from the controller or the heat
detection tubing. Once started, it cannot be stopped. Dry Chemical Agent is ejected into the filter
compartment. As the dust fills the compartment, it absorbs the free radicals which propagate the fire
across the material. The agent interferes with the combustion reaction.
The canister is mounted on the side of the unit. Once the canister is triggered, the unit need to be reset
by pressing the Reset FSS button on the Fire Suppression screen.
Additional Sprinkler
On the motor compartment side, on the top right of the unit, a ½” pipe can be found hanging out of the
unit. This pipe routes to the filter compartment side. This pipe allows for additional water sprinkler to be
added to the unit to help extinguish fire and needs to be connected to water supply.
F IRE S UPPRESSION P ROCEDURE
In the event of a fire in the filter compartment of the dust collector, follow the following steps:
NOTE: Shutting off power to the unit if a fire is detected will cause the suppression system to stop
working electrically(no strobe/alarm will go off). However, the unit is also equipped with a backup heat
detection tube. The heat from fire will burst the heat detection tube and release the fire suppression
agent.
