We’ve recently had hundreds of feet of old film digitized at the highest quality thanks to Rose Le Studios. Spend the evening experiencing life in Port Dover and Norfolk from the 1920s to 60s through the lens of the old family camera. Tickets $10. Pre-registration is required. Jensen and Friends in Concert MAR 15 – 7:00 pm Join Dave Jensen and his band for a night of Celtic favourites as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Dave Jensen, an ambassador of Newfoundland traditions from screech-ins to squeezebox tunes is putting together an evening of entertainment with his friends, John Harris, Doug Stained Glass Workshop with Ingrid Zyma-Irvin APR 12 & 26 and MAY 10 – 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Make something special for Mother’s Day! Learn the basics of stained glass in this 3-week course led by local artist Ingrid Zyma-Irvin. Participants will learn to cut, grind, foil and solder glass, making at least one suncatcher. $60 per person. Pre-registration required. Welland, and others yet to be confirmed. Dave hails from the once outport of Belleoram and has been entertaining folks in the area for over 40 years. Tickets $25. Pre-registration is required.
Common Threads First Thursday of each month – 10:00 am – 11:30 am Calling all fibre artists and needleworkers! Whether your hobby of choice is knitting, embroidery, cross stitch, crochet, felting, or any other handmade piece of art worked up with needles, thread, or yarn, bring your projects and join us at the museum on the first Thursday of each month for a relaxing morning of crafting and connection. Beginners welcome. Must have your own craft supplies. Pre-registration not required. Celebrate the New Year at the museum! On January 1, bring your fiddle or other instrument and join in the fun or simply sit back and enjoy the tunes and company. Doors will open at 1:00 pm and the levee starts after the Polar Bear Dip! We will also be collecting non- perishable food items for the food bank. Remember, this is the perfect time to renew your membership for 2025 and support your museum! Admission by donation.
Today’s Catch – A Film by Jeff Speed JAN 18 – 4:00 pm
Inspired by his wife’s dad, “Smitty”, who captained the fish tug Ciscoette for much of his 40-year fishing career, Jeff Speed’s documentary captures
the raw beauty and grace of the fishermen/women of Port Dover. Port Dover’s commercial fishing industry has sustained for over 150 years, with its boats matching the rhythms of the lake to harvest food for our plates. Join us January 18 for an encore screening of Today’s Catch. Pre-registration required. Admission by donation (min $5/person) and/or bring items for the Port Dover Food Bank.
The Wrecks of Long Point: The Lake Erie Graveyard presented by John Veber FEB 8 • 1:00 pm John Veber, renowned photographer and wreck diver, will share his underwater photographs and 50 years of experience wreck diving in the “graveyard of the Great Lakes.” Tickets $10. Pre-registration is required.
