F or our t im e of meditation today we ask that you turn to the Word of God, the Book of John, chapter 12. We see in verse 20 that a certain com pany of Greeks had come up to worship at the feast. In verse 21 we find them addressing Philip who was of Bethsaida of Galilee and thus approachable by these Greeks. They said unto him, “Sir, we would see Jesus,” and Philip went to Andrew. Wherever you see Andrew, he is introducing someone to Jesus, which should be the primary purpose of the Christian life of every child of God. Andrew and Philip go and tell Jesus and in verse 23 of John Jesus begins these rich verses to them: “. . . The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, (truly, truly,) I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Fa ther honor. Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour? but for this cause came I unto this hour. Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice

from heaven, saying, I have both glori fied it, and will glorify it again.” Our text is “The Hidden Life” and is found in verse 24: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a grain of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth by itself alone, but if it die it bringeth forth fresh fruit.” In these concise and picturesque words the Lord Jesus has describe*! to us what the real life of the child of God is. For many people religion is the way they wear their clothes, or the clothes they wear. For some folk it is an out ward service or worship through cer tain rituals — while for others it rests in pictures, symbols or images which are outward evidences of religion. Jesus said that there were some folk like that in His day and He called them Scribes and Pharisees. They were im petuous and copyists of the law — to them He said, “Woe unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like unto whited sepulchres, which in-
