not a setting sun.” The chair is one of the many symbols Washington has left us as we reflect on and honor his legacy and impact on our great nation. Visiting Washington, D.C., my wife, a lover of history and politics, often talks about the symbolism and importance of the placement of the monuments. The Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial are placed facing one another to continue the “conversation between the presidents.” From the windows of the Oval Office, they are both visible, furthering the conversation, as our past impacts our present and shapes our future. The monument and memorial provide great messages on legacy. The construction of the Washington Monument was started prior to the Civil War. Private funding was a
A Personal Journey Through History The Evolution of My Appreciation for President's Day
Every February, Americans celebrate President’s Day, a holiday initially created to honor George Washington’s birthday on Feb. 22. Later, the holiday was adapted to include Lincoln’s birthday, Feb. 12, and moved to the third Monday in February, under the Uniform Holiday Bill of 1968. The intent of the bill was to consolidate and mandate Federal holidays be celebrated on Mondays in an effort to prevent closures of schools and businesses midweek. At the time of the proposal, the bill was controversial. Congress debated how the change of date would impact the honor and legacy of both Washington and Lincoln. Today, President’s Day is not so much of a birthday celebration as it is a day to look back and honor those who have taken on the honorable — yet incredibly challenging — task of leading our country. It provides an opportunity to reflect and honor the impact and the legacy of their leadership. When reflecting on this day, I often think back to my visits to Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. As a family, we

posed by tour guides is intentional and reflective, “Is the sun rising or setting on democracy?” After three months of debating the Constitution, Franklin provided closure to his thoughts of the “sunrise chair,” stating, “At length, I have the happiness to know that it is a rising and

In home design, achieving functionality and aesthetic appeal is a balancing act. But with the right strategies, any space can transform into a stylish and practical haven. Here are five expert tips to maximize both space and style in your home. UTILIZE EVERY WALL. A common mistake in home decoration is neglecting wall space. Designer wisdom dictates that every wall should contribute to the room's overall look and feel. This doesn't mean overcrowding walls with decor but thoughtfully using them to enhance the room. Consider adding art, mirrors, shelves, or decorative rails. These elements fill empty spaces and add character and dimension to your living area. CONQUER CLUTTER WITH STYLE. Clutter is the enemy of a well-designed space. Use baskets and storage solutions that complement your decor to keep clutter at bay. Baskets are not just functional; they can also be stylish accents that add texture and warmth to any room. They come in various sizes and materials, allowing you to choose those that align with your home’s aesthetic. This way, you keep your space tidy while adding an element of design. INSTALL CREATIVE LIGHTING. Lighting is pivotal in setting the mood and highlighting your home's best features. Incorporating various types of lighting — wall lamps, standing lamps, ambient lights, and table lamps — creates layers of illumination that enhance the room's atmosphere. Pay special attention to your pendant lamp; it's not just a light source but a decorative piece that can be a focal point in the room. A well- chosen pendant lamp adds elegance and can tie a room together. HARMONIZE COLOR AND TEXTURE. Integrating varying textures and colors can dramatically change a room's appearance and feel. Soft furnishings like throw pillows and rugs bring comfort and visual interest. Experiment with contrasting textures and complementary colors to create a dynamic yet cohesive look. MAXIMIZE SPACE WITH MULTIFUNCTIONAL FURNITURE. In smaller spaces, multifunctional furniture is a game-changer. Items like sofa beds, extendable tables, and ottomans with storage can serve multiple purposes without sacrificing style or comfort. These versatile pieces are perfect for making the most out of limited space. Applying these strategies can transform your home into a functional and aesthetically pleasing space. Remember, the key is in the details — no matter how small, every element contributes to your home's overall style and usability. Maximizing Space and Style Clever Home Decoration Strategies

As winter sets in, we all need warm and cozy clothes to stay comfortable. However, taking care of these clothes can be tricky. That's where we come in as your trusted dry cleaner. We understand that every winter coat has different care requirements, and we deal with all kinds of winter wear daily. So, as the weather gets colder and we bundle up more, we want to provide a simple guide to help you care for your winter outerwear, no matter what type it is. WOOL OVERCOATS Wool overcoats can be beautiful and elegant, but they need special care to keep them looking great. That's why we always advise clients to check the tags on wool coats for care instructions before they buy them; that way, they understand how to clean them from the start. If the label says you can wash your wool coat at home, just be careful not to expose it to very hot temperatures, as this can cause it to shrink. A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO CARING FOR YOUR COATS
WINTER SKI COATS Many winter ski coats and children's coats are designed for home washing. But of course, before doing that, you should check the label to see if it's safe to wash and dry them at home. Some coats are made with water-repelling materials and might have plastic parts — like zippers — that can be damaged by washing or drying. Even if the coat is safe to wash at home, it's a good idea to have it professionally dry cleaned every once in a while to keep it in good shape. PEA COATS AND OVERCOATS Dry-clean-only pea coats and overcoats should be treated like sweaters. Wear them until they're visibly dirty, then bring them in for cleaning. But don't wait too long because coats can reach a point of no return — where they can no longer be cleaned to look like new. DOWN COATS When it comes to washing down coats, it's essential to read the care label carefully. Some coats are suitable for home washing, especially if they have removable
embellishments and hoods. Just make sure to use a warm but not hot setting to avoid damaging the delicate feathers, which will help maintain the coat's fluffiness and warmth. And finally, if you're ever unsure, it's always best to trust us with your coats to preserve their quality and keep you warm in style! We put out a request last year asking you to return hangers and were amazed by your response! So many people returned hangers, but we still need more as the shortage continues. Thank you to all who have returned hangers recently! Please, keep up the good work! Thanks for Returning Them! THE HANGER SHORTAGE CONTINUES

The Lincoln Memorial further serves as the discussion of democracy, tolerance, and the extension and protection of civil rights. Situated on the western side of the National Mall, the Lincoln Memorial has three chambers. Etched into the walls are excerpts of the Gettysburg Address.
War II Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, and the Vietnam War Memorial. We leave with a new appreciation and message. The civil discourse surrounding these freedoms began with George Washington and our Founders, extended to Lincoln, and continues today. During a visit to D.C., my wife had the opportunity to stand on the Speaker’s Balcony at the Capitol. She stood there and looked out over the National Mall toward the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial and felt the conversation of democracy and legacies. I have deepened my appreciation for both President’s Day and the men who created the country we know today. So, this year, I encourage everyone to reflect on what they know about our country and its history, and if you have the time, take a moment and push a little deeper and learn more about how we got here and the
Going to the Lincoln Memorial at night is a personal favorite. The design and message are hauntingly beautiful — and the mightiness of Lincoln himself cannot go unnoticed or unfelt. The Lincoln Memorial has served as the location for many pivotal moments in our nation’s history, demonstrating yet again that the conversation between our great leaders is not yet finished.
We love visiting D.C.: going to Supreme Court oral arguments, riding the Senate subway, touring the Capitol, watching pivotal moments in the galleries of the House and Senate, touring Smithsonian Museums, and visiting monuments and memorials. As you walk the National Mall, you are surrounded by the voices and stories of those who have fought to protect our freedoms. Each time, we visit the World
people who have helped lead us along the way.
