WEEK 6: July 8-12

MORNING CAMPS

Road Rally In the Vehicle Design Lab, children enter an exciting world where they apply nature-based discoveries to create vehicles that can travel across land. They morph prototype elements to demonstrate how their designs might adapt to moving through the air and even underwater. Through exploration of energy, fuel, and movement, children modify their designs to take on challenges in an exhilarating Super Road Rally. Texas Sock Puppets Campers will explore their creativity by making sock puppets. They will learn basic sewing techniques, attach buttons for eyes, create expressive faces, and use fabric markers to personalize their puppets with yarn for hair. Bringing their unique puppets to life, campers will also write a small skit to perform with their friends. Rumble, Tumble, Fumble Campers will focus on the football fundamentals of passing, kicking, punting, catching, route running, defending, and field awareness. They will have fun practicing drills and playing games to teach various football skills. Campers can also play and work in different team-building games to help build a football team. Campers will compete in mini-tournaments, including a PPK (Punt, Pass, Kick) competition. Chess-Intermediate Play Welcome to Texas Chess Center’s summer camp at Levine Academy! In this camp session, we embark on the development of tactical skills and shift our focus to more advanced topics. Campers will delve into concepts such as discovered attacks, checkmate patterns, and more! The curriculum includes learning basic tactics that empower students to identify threats, execute defensive moves, and achieve checkmates in a single move.
