Special Celebration Event honors Foster America
Foster America was at the heart of a special celebration in 2024. Dr. Adeola Kosoko, a Houston-based physician who specializes in pediatric emergency medicine, chose to spotlight our mission during a milestone birthday event, transforming a personal celebration into a powerful platform for change. “It has always been a goal in my life to ‘give big,’” Dr. Kosoko said. “I realized that rather than relying only on my personal resources, I could pool the resources of people who I know all over the country to come together to give big for a worthy cause.” As her 40th birthday approached, she settled on supporting an organization focused on families and children.
Foster America stood out on the list of possibilities, she said, because of our focus on keeping families together. “Foster America was easily the organization that I wanted to work with,” she said. For several months leading up to her 40th, she rallied her network of friends, family, and colleagues around the cause, encouraging them to join her in supporting better outcomes for families. The fundraising campaign culminated in an evening of dinner and dancing, with our executive director and co-founder, Marie Zemler Wu, and JoAnne Scribner, vice president of development and strategic partnerships, joining the festivities. Dr. Kosoko expressed her gratitude, stating she was “honored to have partnered with Foster America to make this event a reality.”
