2024 LSCA Fall Meeting

Establishing, Funding, and Education SANE Program Ginesse Barrett has been a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) in Louisiana for sixteen years and has been a SANE Program Coordinator/Director in a variety of cities and settings for eleven years, which entailed building new programs, expanding services, and funding programs by writing grants and working to help bring about legislative changes. She is currently one of only eleven actively practicing dual-board certified SANEs in the state of Louisiana, with her original certification going back to 2012. Her nursing career began nineteen years ago as an Emergency RN where she realized the need for specialized programs to treat patients who experienced sexual violence. She has presented both locally and internationally dozens of times, was the medical expert on the Sexual Assault Working group in 2015 which brought about Act 292, and received a number of awards for her dedication to this field. Utilizing Telemedicine Technology for Civil Commitment Examinations Dr. Joshua Sanderson is a native of Kenner, LA and a 2007 graduate of LSU in Baton Rouge. He received his Doctor of Medicine from LSUHSC in New Orleans in 2011. He is board certified in child, adolescent, adult, and forensic psychiatry. He currently conducts various forensic examinations throughout the state, works as a Deputy Coroner in Jefferson Parish, and helps provide coverage in St. Tammany and Lafayette Parishes as needed. He has helped a number of courts in various parishes convert their examinations and hearings to virtual encounters .

2024 Legislative Acts Summary Frederick E. Yorsch is a Louisiana native and resides in Lakeview with his wife and son. Mr. Yorsch is the founding partner of the firm, with an active business and governmental practice. Mr. Yorsch’s role in representing governmental clients has allowed him to experience all aspects of a governmental agency. He currently addresses legal issues that arise from the operations of the government agency, including policy, training, contracts, employment, insurance, Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) matters, risk management, and internal functions.
