APRIL FOOLS’ DAY
Do you know about April Fools?
What’s April Fools? April Fools' Day is a tradition celebrated on April 1st in many countries, primarily in English-speaking ones. On this day, people play pranks and tricks on their friends, family, or coworkers, with the aim of lightly and playfully deceiving them. The pranks are usually harmless and sometimes exaggerated, and the goal is to make the tricked person feel "silly" for a moment. At the end of the prank, the common phrase used is "April Fools!" Although it is a popular tradition, the exact origin of the celebration is unclear, but it is believed to have roots in medieval customs or calendar changes. Origin The origin of April Fools' Day is not completely clear, but some theories suggest it’s related to the calendar change in Europe. In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII introduced the Gregorian calendar, which moved the start of the year from April 1st to January 1st. Those who continued celebrating New Year’s on April 1st, or didn’t know about the change, were considered "fools" and became the target of pranks. Common Pranks Some of the most common pranks include switching objects around, making someone believe something ridiculous or invented, or even announcing fake or impossible news. The goal is always to make people laugh, not to cause harm or frustration.

William James (1842-1910) was an American psychologist and philosopher, considered one of the founders of modern psychology. He is known for his functionalist approach, which studies how mental processes help individuals adapt to their environment. He also developed the theory of the "stream of consciousness," emphasized the importance of pragmatism, and proposed that emotions are physiological responses. Additionally, he explored the psychology of religion and subjective experience. His most famous work, The Principles of Psychology (1890), is a cornerstone of modern psychology.
