PACK EXPO To Offer Packaging Scholarships

The new PACK EXPO scholarship program will pro- vide $30,000 annually to support the future packag- ing and processing workforce. Each year, six $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to students studying packaging and processing at PMMI Partner Schools. A portion of the proceeds from the PACK gives BACK events at PACK EXPO International and PACK EXPO Las Vegas will benefit the scholarship program, said show producer, PMMI,The Association of Packag- ing and Processing Technologies. To be considered for the scholarship, students must currently attend a PMMI Partner School, have at least one semester remaining in their college careers and hold a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants should be ma- joring in engineering, packaging, processing, mecha- tronics, or a related field and should demonstrate financial need. Interested students can apply for the scholarship by submitting a completed application, writing a 500–1,000-word essay describing their interest in the packaging and processing field as well as their career goals. The recipients of the PACK EXPO Scholarship will be announced at the PACK gives BACK benefit concert, which is sponsored by Rockwell Automation and features a performance by The Doobie Brothers, on Monday, September 25 at 4 p.m. at PACK EXPO Las Vegas. PMMI U Offers Two New On The Road Courses Registration is open for two new PMMI U On the Road courses taking place on Monday, July 1, at ASCO’s Global Headquarters in Florham Park, New Jersey, sponsored by PMMI,The Association for Pack- aging and Processing Technologies. This free event aims to bring together consumer packaged goods (CPG) professionals and PMMI members to learn about the latest packaging and processing issues af- fecting the industry. The first of the two workshops, Total Cost of Own- ership: Understand What It Is, How to Calculate and Its Many Benefits , will take place from 10 a.m.–3:30 p.m. The interactive session will focus on the acquisition, operation and maintenance costs of capital expenditures. The second free workshop, Cybersecurity and Pro- duction Operations: Why You Should Care will take place from 4–5:30 p.m. This session looks at threats to plant information networks and interconnected machinery lines for CPGs and OEMs.
