In the Fall of ‘23, the Medical Laboratory Technician program welcomed its largest freshman class in program history, with eleven future graduates joining the lab at FCC. Through the generosity of several area hospi- tals including Fairfield Memorial, Wabash General, and St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, several new pieces of diagnostic equipment were added to the curriculum in the Fall ‘23 semes - ter. Additionally, a new Adjunct Instructor, Laura Smith, joined the MLT program as the instructor of Immunohematology. Leading up to this past school year, the MLT faculty were hard at work converting many of the courses to a hybrid format. The new and expanded hybrid offerings will make a great career opportunity available to students encumbered by employment or family obligations by making courses available online and limiting on-campus attendance to one day per week. FCC’s MLT program is young but has seen consistent growth. The faculty continue to work hard and expect to see a continuous improvement in program numbers moving forward. 
