Harrell’s Employee Handbook, September 2023
SECURITY & POLICY AGAINST VIOLENCE The procedures outlined below are intended to help provide a safe, productive, and wholesome workplace and accomplish this with fairness and respect for the individual and all employees in general. Workplace Security Policy Harrell’s strives to provide a workplace that is free from acts of violence and the threat of violence. Accordingly, the Company prohibits and does not tolerate actual or threatened violence against employees, visitors, or any other persons who are on the Company’s premises or have contact with employees during the course of their work. Security and safety in the workplace are every employee’s responsibility. It is, therefore, essential that every employee understands the importance of workplace safety and security. For purposes of this policy, violence includes: • making written or verbal threatening remarks. • aggressive or hostile actions such as shouting, throwing objects, fighting, or intentionally damaging property. • using threatening body language or gestures. • assault. This list is illustrative only and is not exhaustive. No form of workplace violence will be tolerated. Compliance with this anti-violence policy is essential and is a condition of employment. Employees who violate any of its terms, engage in or contribute to violent behavior, or threaten others with violence will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination. Prohibition Against Hazardous Items / Weapons Unless expressly authorized by management, Harrell’s prohibits the possession of firearms, other weapons, or other dangerous/unauthorized items or materials at the workplace or while otherwise engaged in company business. Weapons include guns, knives, mace, or explosives. This list is illustrative only and not exhaustive. Unless expressly authorized by management, the company prohibits employees from possessing any weapon at the workplace, regardless of whether they have a concealed weapons permit or are otherwise authorized by law to possess, carry, or use the weapon. When required by law, the company will post conspicuous notices announcing its policy prohibiting firearms and other weapons in the workplace. For purposes of this policy, the workplace is defined to include Harrell’s buildings and outdoor areas. An employee may store a firearm for which they have a valid permit or are legally authorized to carry in a locked personal vehicle while parked in the company’s parking lots. The firearm should be hidden from plain view or locked within a case in the vehicle. Employees may not transport or store any firearms in company-owned or company-leased vehicles, even if they have a valid permit or are legally authorized to carry a firearm. An employee who is prohibited by state or federal law from possessing or carrying a firearm may not store any firearm in their vehicle while parked in a company parking lot. This policy is strictly enforced, and any violation of this policy will result in discipline up to and including termination.
