Examples include The Salvation Army, The Guardian Ad Litem Program, Habitat for Humanity, etc. Volunteer Time Volunteer time should not conflict with the peak work schedule and other work-related responsibilities, create the need for overtime, or cause conflicts with other employees’ schedules. Employees may take paid time off to volunteer up to a maximum of 24 hours per year. Eligibility and Approval • All full-time regular employees are eligible. • Interested employees should have expected performance or above. • Interested employees should complete a Volunteer Request Form and meet with their managers • The employee must complete volunteer logs. When possible, volunteer logs should be signed by a representative from the organization with which the employee is volunteering. Completed logs should be submitted to the employee’s supervisor for review (and entered into the timekeeping system if applicable) and then to Human Resources for payroll processing and filing. Other forms of proof of volunteer time will be considered instead of a volunteer log. to discuss their volunteer choice and schedule and to receive prior approval. • Approved volunteer hours will be paid at the employee’s normal pay rate. DISABILITY LEAVE All employees are eligible for Short- and Long-Term Disability, provided by Harrell’s, at no cost to our employees. Short-Term Disability insurance begins when an employee becomes temporarily disabled due to illness or personal injury outside the scope of work. At Harrell’s, Short-Term Disability provides a full salary continuance for up to 13 weeks while an employee remains under a doctor’s care and cannot work. Long-Term Disability insurance helps to replace an employee’s income if they are sick or injured and cannot work after Short-Term Disability benefits have been exhausted. It is designed to begin after an employee has been disabled for a predetermined waiting period, known as the elimination period, of 90 days. This plan provides the employee with income protection to replace up to 60% of their regular pay. When an employee becomes eligible for Long-Term Disability, their employment with Harrell’s is automatically terminated; however, the employee is invited to reapply for a position with Harrell’s when they fully recover and are no longer under a doctor’s care. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE LEAVE Harrell’s is committed to promoting the health and safety of its employees. The Company offers support and referrals to assist employee victims who disclose concerns or requests for help when they or someone they know is a victim of domestic violence.
