Employees do not earn or accrue any benefits, including vacation, during a personal leave of absence. Since employees may be fully responsible for paying the total costs of any insurance benefits during a personal leave of absence, employees must make arrangements to pay any premiums before the leave begins to avoid the possibility of a loss or interruption in coverage. In addition, Harrell’s is not obligated to pay for group health insurance premiums during any portion of a personal leave of absence. VACATION, SICK, & BEREAVEMENT TIME Harrell’s offers full-time employees time off for vacation, sick, and bereavement, except for managers, directors, sales employees, and executive team members. • Managers, directors, sales employees, and executive team members do not accrue time. They are responsible for managing vacation and sick time in conjunction with business needs, subject to their manager's approval. • Employees promoted to a manager position will forfeit their vacation and sick time balances. • Part-time and temporary employees are not eligible for vacation and sick time unless mandated by the state where they work. Vacation Time Accrual Vacation time is accrued bi-weekly with the first paycheck of each newly hired employee. Eligible employees begin accruing time upon the first day of employment and are eligible to take vacation time after 90 days of employment. Accrual rates are listed below. Please note that an increase in accrual rate at five and ten years of service is effective on the pay period following an employee’s anniversary date. An employee must have the requested hours already accrued to use vacation time. The department’s Vice President must approve any exception to this.
