Harrell's Employee Handbook

Harrell’s Employee Handbook, September 2023

• Any unused sick time at the end of the year will be automatically cashed out by the last pay of the year. • Vacation time is not eligible for cash out. Bereavement Paid bereavement time is granted upon request as needed, up to a maximum of 24 hours (three days) of leave due to the loss of an immediate family member. Bereavement time is not eligible for cash out or roll over. For the purposes of this policy, immediate family members are defined as an employee’s spouse, parents, mother/father-in-law, grandparents, siblings, and children. Exceptions may be granted case-by-case in extenuating circumstances, and employees should talk to their immediate supervisor for more information. If additional time off is needed, employees may use sick or accrued vacation time upon the approval of their supervisor. Employees must provide some form of documentation supporting their request for bereavement leave, such as a copy of the obituary of the immediate family member.

All requests for bereavement leave must be submitted on a Time Off Request Form.

Separation If an employee’s employment with Harrell’s ends, either voluntary or involuntary, unused accrued vacation time will be paid out on the final paycheck. Any unused sick time will not be paid on the final paycheck. VOTING LEAVE Harrell’s recognizes that voting is a right and privilege of being a citizen of the United States and encourages employees to exercise their right to vote. In almost all cases, employees will have sufficient time outside working hours to vote. If, for any reason, an employee thinks this will not be the case, they should contact their supervisor to discuss scheduling accommodation.
