No employee should be solicited for personal matters that require payment, such as bake sales, candy drives, etc. Employees may feel uncomfortable or pressured in a work situation, so Harrell’s prohibits such activities. EMPLOYEE SUGGESTIONS Harrell’s welcome suggestions for continued improvement. If an employee knows of a better way to do a job, produce or sell the products or services of the Company, or meet customer needs, the employee is encouraged to discuss ideas with leadership. Employees are encouraged to remain educated about the Company's internal operating procedures, products and services, customers and clients, and the industry and markets in general. Please bring to management’s attention any suggestions derived from seminars, magazines, or other outside sources of information believed to add value to the Company potentially. Understand that any suggestions, innovations, inventions, or other matters created by the employee on work time or with company tools or property are considered to be "works for hire" and are, therefore, the proprietary property of the company. EMPLOYMENT OF RELATIVES Employment of relatives may be considered, provided it would not: • Create a direct supervisor-subordinate relationship with a family member, except in unusual circumstances, usually relating to remote operation locations or • Create a conflict of interest or the appearance of a conflict of interest, except in unusual circumstances. A relative is considered as follows, whether by blood, marriage, or adoption: spouse, parent, son, daughter, brother, sister, grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, or nephew. This also applies to current employees who become relatives as defined herein. EMPLOYMENT REFERENCES Harrell’s has a strict policy pertaining to employment references. All requests for references and employment verifications must be referred to Human Resources, who is only authorized to release dates of employment and job titles for any current or past employees, except as required by law. Salary information will only be provided if the employee obtains written authorization in advance. It is not appropriate to list any other individual as a contact person for Harrell’s on a resume or application for employment. An employee requesting any information concerning a past or present employee or volunteer of the Company should refer to the person requesting Human Resources without engaging in any on or "off the record" conversation about the individual. Employees may not provide information regarding current or former employees or volunteers to any outside agency, organization, institution, or person not employed by Harrell’s. Only Human Resources is authorized to provide information regarding current or former employees or volunteers. An exception exists only if Human Resources provides specific written authorization to furnish information regarding a particular individual. By way of example only, inquiries that should be referred
