After my internship with Framatome, I definitely liked the work I did and the team I worked with. I knew I wanted to continue a career with them. Lynchburg and surrounding areas have that “small town” feel, with industry that punches well above its weight. Even during rush hour, my commute is fairly mild. There’s no shortage of community: from the International Festival downtown to Trunk-or-Treat in Forest, from mentoring high school students in engineering at Vector Space to a lazy Saturday at the mom-and-pop book store Givens Books, there’re all sorts of opportunities. And being a smaller city has its merits – it’s easy to make bigger waves in a smaller pond.
