Together, they serve as a record of the key moments and milestones in its 25-year journey; shed light on behind-the- scenes events and offer the reader a glimpse into the experiences, challenges and even tribulations of the people behind it – from the decision-makers to the field reporters. This book walks the reader through Al Jazeera’s history, from the launch of its Arabic news channel 25 years ago to the evolution of its multiple channels and platforms in other languages and regions. Along the way, it offers snippets of the challenges faced by its founders as well as the human stories and first-hand accounts of its journalists in various parts of the world. In each account the reader will encounter Al Jazeera’s core values. From telling the human story to centring an openness to other cultures without discrimination and keeping abreast of the latest professional and technical advancements, these are the values that have enabled the Network to achieve its leading position within the media industry.
