the attempt to prove that early Bri­ tons built ‘the stone Bible’ which they called the Great Pyramid, was added by one C. Piazzi Smith, an eminent Scottish astronomer, in his book Our Inheritance in the Great Pyramid. “ But Anglo-Israelism did not ac­ tually catch on until Edward Hine published his book, in London, in 1871, entitled, U7 Identifications of the British Nation with Lost Israel, o f which more than a quarter o f a million copies were sold. He also published two magazines. By 1880 the sect had crossed the ocean, nam­ ing the “ American cousins” Man- asseh while the British were, of course, Ephraim. In 1920 Howard B. Rand took up the cause, even­ tually putting out an attractive slick-cover magazine called Destiny which is a kind o f official publica­ tion o f the sect, although there are many varieties o f Anglo-Israelism with leaders o f every type. This is one of the ‘fables’ mentioned in 2 one of the ‘fables’ mentioned in II Peter 1:16, I Timothy 1:4 and II Timothy 4 :4 .”

Answer: In reply to this question, I shall give a condensed version o f the account in Dr. Louis T. Talbot’s booklet, What’s Wrong with Anglo- Israelism? “ An eccentric Briton named Rich­ ard Brothers, calling himself ‘Neph­ ew o f the Almighty’, in 1794 wrote a book entitled Revealed Knowledge in which he declared that he was a descendant of David and that on Nov. 19, 1795 he would be revealed as ‘Prince o f the Hebrews’. Later he put out another book entitled
