PSY 610 DEVELOPMENT OF RELIGIOUS UNDERSTANDING, IN CHILDREN AND ADO­ LESCENTS (2) An assessment of the cognitive and affective meanings which children and adoles­ cents attribute to religious concepts, practices, and experiences, and their changes in meaning during the course of individual development. The biblical perspective of religious development is also examined. May also be taken for integration credit. Elective. PSY 611 RESEARCH IN RELIGIOUS BEHAVIOR (2) A survey of the research literature on religious behavior, Representative empirical studies dealing with several dimensions and correlates of religious behavior will be examined. May also be taken for integration credit as PTI 611. Elective. PSY 612 SEMINAR IN PERSONALITY (2) A series of seminars devoted to an in-depth study of major personality theories. Each seminar deals with one of the following theories: Behavioristic, Psychoanaly­ tic, Phenomenological, Adlerian, or Sullivanian. Elective. Prerequisite: PSY 503-PSY 505 PSY 614 COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH I: CHILD REARING (3) A seminar on child rearing practices with special attention given to the parent-child relationship. Each student is responsible for a limited review of literature, the de­ velopment of a community education model for parents, the preparation of a cur­ riculum, and the field-testing of that model and curriculum. Elective. PSY 615 COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH II: COMMUNITY RESOURCES (2) An investigation of federal , state, county, and local agencies, both public and pri­ vate, involved in preventive and corrective efforts to bring emotional well being to citizens of the community. Emphasis on helping the psychologist to make coordi­ nated use of available services for treatment programs. Elective. PSY 616 COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH III: THE CULTURALLY AND ECONOMI­ CALLY DISADVANTAGED (2) An inquiry into the life styles of the so-called culturally disadvantaged groups, par­ ticularly the educationally and economically deprived. Research on therapeutic methods with culturally different groups is reviewed with the goal of modifying therapeutic methods in order to increase professional effectiveness. Elective. PSY 617 COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH IV: SEMINAR IN MARRIAGE (3) A seminar on marriage adjustment and enrichment. Each student is responsible for a limited review of literature, the development of a community education model for married and premarriage couples, the preparation of a curriculum, and the field­ testing of that model and curriculum. Elective. PSY 640 THE SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY OF INTERVENTION (3) An examination of topics in social psychology relevant to the process of psycholog­ ical intervention and change. Theories of interpersonal behavior as applied to dyadic and group settings are explored intensively. Elective. 43
