SGS Pakistan victors of Virgin Pulse Global Challenge – SGS Pak Runners led the board with 24,071,102 steps! The SGS Virgin Pulse Challenge is an initiative to creates a culture of health and wellbeing within organization by challenging each of our employees to walk at least 7,000 steps every day. This year’s challenge comprised of 100 plus teams with 977 individual team members all over the world from a variety of corporate functions. Together, SGS Pakistan’s team walked more than 24,071,102 steps in a span of about 90 days. The challenge was undertaken by SGS Pak Runners with a tagline “Where Fitness Needs to be Assured”, and as a part of the challenge a variety of activities which included indoor and outdoor activities encompassing; walking, running, cycling, squash, table tennis, badminton, bodybuilding, rollerblading, racing, bowling and climbing! In addition to physical exercise, this year’s challenge included modules on strengthening psychological health and wellbeing. The employees were given practical tips on the app on improving focus, understanding sleep patterns, and improving sleep quality, and coping with stressful situations and to improve diet. Attendees at a module on nutrition received a food calculator, a weekly weight tracker and tailored healthy eating advice. With this challenge employees reported feeling less stressed after taking on the challenge. This not only achieved the goal of the challenge but also striked employees’ goals of stress management, health & overall wellbeing which in turn leads to personal & organizational productivity. Cycling for a cause – commemoration ofWorld Polio Day with SGS Pakistan on 24 th October Only two cases of polio in the year 2021 have been reported and this counts to be the lowest ever, Pakistan is the country among the two countries where polio remains endemic. As part of supporting the eradication of Polio we celebrated theWorld Polio Day on 24th October with our team of cyclists, that cycled for a cause with the spirit of spreading awareness, a team of cyclists participated in the event to commemorate this international day. The event took place early in the morning where all the cyclists and enthusiasts gathered for the cause from the motor club, the Harley Davidson riders and lady motor cyclists at the cycling track on the seashore of Karachi city. SGS employees along with other enthusiasts cycled their way to the targeted destination and encouraged each other up for the cause. Overall it was a fun day along with the spirit to support such serious causes. We hope to see the wipe out of polio in our country one day!
