About Hudson Yards

Hudson Yards is the largest private real estate development in the history of United States. Located on the west side of Manhattan, neighboring Chelsea, Hudson Yards is constructed on what was previously a storage yard for Long Island Railroad trains. This “city within a city” includes more than 18 million square feet of commercial and residential space, more than 100 shops and restaurants, The Shed, 14 acres of open space and the world’s first Equinox Hotel, a dynamic and innovative fitness experience. This new cultural hub has become an example of the future of cities not only to New York, but to the entire world. The area surrounding Hudson Yards has a rich and storied past - from the heyday of the Chelsea Hotel, to the city’s hard-working waterfront, to the revitalized food and art scene of Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen. Hudson Yards is adding to that tradition, propelling the area from it’s industrious past towards a future that will redefine Manhattan. Located between 10th and 12th Avenues from West 30th to West 34th Street, Hudson Yards has ample connections to commuter rail service, the subway, the West Side Highway, the Lincoln Tunnel and ferries along the Hudson River. The extension of the No. 7 Subway line arrives at the Hudson Yards station, which opened in 2015. The neighborhood buzzes with activity, and is known for chic art galleries, inviting restaurants and bars, and international fashion and design. The celebrated High Line and the new Public Square and Gardens and Hudson Park & Boulevard will welcome residents and visitors to expansive open green space. Welcome to the Neighborhood

Taking Flight When visiting New York, there are three major airports to fly in to, all of which have accessible forms of transportation to get oneself to the destination needed.

John F. Kennedy International Airport ( JFK)

Located an hour outside of Manhattan, in Queens, New York, John. F Kennedy International Airport is the primary international airport serving the New York area. JFK is ranked among the top five busiest airports in North America. Be sure to plan ahead and ensure you will have enough time going through security. If you are left with extra time, peruse the high-end shops and enjoyable restaurants in order to stay occupied while waiting for your flights.

LaGuardia Airport (LGA)

LaGuardia Airport is also located in Queens, New York. However, it takes only 30 minutes to navigate here from the Mansion, as this airport is drastically less populated. As of mid-2017, LaGuardia is undergoing a massive, large-scale restoration in order to update the airport and increase the amount of amenities provided to flyers waiting for their flights.

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)

Although Newark Liberty International Airport is the primary airport serving New Jersey, it’s a short 45 minutes from Manhattan, and has quickly become an airport utilized by many New Yorkers. Unlike JFK, navigating the Newark airport does not prove to be stress-inducing. While this airport does not feature as many amenities as JFK, there are a number of café’s and quick-service restaurants to enjoy if you have time to waste before flying.

The Vessel (Temporarily Known As..)

The extraordinary centerpiece of Hudson Yards is its spiral staircase, a soaring new landmark meant to be climbed. This interactive artwork was imagined by Thomas Heatherwick and Heatherwick Studio as a focal point where people can enjoy new perspectives of the city and one another from different heights, angles and vantage points. Comprised of 154 intricately interconnecting flights of stairs -- almost 2,500 individual steps and 80 landings -- with nearly one mile of vertical climb above the Public Square and Gardens, this landmark will offer remarkable views.

The Observation Deck The moment you step out onto the highest outdoor deck in the entire Western Hemisphere is a moment you’ll never forget. Go rise above the clouds, the birds, the city itself. Go out of the building and walk 65 feet straight out into the sky on the highest public balcony in New York. Go take in the iconic skyline like never before, in full panorama—with dramatic sunsets to the west. Go forth and stand on the large glass floor, gasping as you impossibly look straight down at the bustling neighborhood 1,100 feet below. Go further and lean out over Manhattan, literally, on the nine-foot wall of boldly angled glass—if you dare. Go even higher and dine on the 101 st floor at the 10,000-square-foot bar, restaurant, and event space curated by renowned hospitality group rhubarb, its first venture outside of London. It’s the city as you’ve really never seen it before. Click here to get on the list!
