had to go home, I was always able to leave whenever I needed to. That was a blessing for me.” Not that there haven’t been some ups and downs throughout the years. Mirna shares that her biggest challenges come from how to best serve her clients. “You are always expanding your customer base and serving more and more people. Attracting more customers to your store is a challenge every business faces,” she says. “Knowing what the consumer wants and likes is always on your mind and mostly is a guessing game, but you learn from previous years what you sold and what you didn’t. You try not to repeat your mistakes, but you never get it perfect; it is part of doing business.” Making her clients feel and look their best is what Mirna loves most about her job. “The clientele are my favourite part of the whole business because it can’t exist without them. They make work interesting, and every day is a different day,” she says. “They come in looking for a specific look or sometimes they don’t know exactly what they want, and they need your help and that is when I put my superhero cape on and try to save the day.”
For this spring’s fashion, Mirna says she’s excited for the customers to see the vibrant colours and prints as well as the lighter and softer fabrics, like cotton, linen, and viscose.“Also, suits are back in style and since lots of women are going back to the office they can revamp their work wardrobe with our large selection, including wide-leg light fabric pants,” shares. “They are cool and flattering. And dresses are still one of my favourite wardrobe items to have for their simplicity and how it makes dressing up in the morning easy and fast, not thinking what to mix and match; it’s just one and done.” When it comes to styling a customer, Mirna’s favourite looks are those that suit the individual. “I don’t just like one look and try to encourage all my customers to wear it. The way I see it is I work with their size, shape, colour and try to dress them accordingly,” she says. “The outfit must complement them and make them feel beautiful. When they leave happy and thank you for your great service that is when I know I belong here.”
