Dear Camp Life Participants, We are very excited that you have decided to join us at Camp Life during the summer of 202 5 ! We expect to have the privilege of ministering to over almost 4,000 Zambian children at Camp Life this upcoming summer. Your willingness to answer the call God gave you to attend Camp Life can change the life of a child, both in their current life and for eternity. Most of this year’s children will be first-time candidates to go to school, while others will likely be unsponsored students who were previously enrolled in our schools. Your commitment to participating in Camp Life will give you the unique opportunity to get to know and provide hope to these children whom you will come to adore. Thank-you for you for choosing to actively engage in God’s great commission and ministry of reconciliation with these children in Zambia. As you prepare for this exciting week, we have created the enclosed guides designed to help equip you for every step of the way, including preparing yourself for camp, the logistics of traveling to another continent, what to expect while at Camp, and how to process your experience once you come home. I want you to feel comfortable that this Welcome Packet will serve as a source of both information and direction. As you read through its pages, I’d like to assure you that you are in good hands as we embark on our 19th summer of Camp Life.

You might be wondering, “How can I spend that much time with kids, especially from a different country?” or “How can I show God’s love to kids I have never met? or “Am I going to be comfortable in an African country?” Just remember that God is exceedingly gifted at equipping those who are willing to minister in His name. To further support you, our Family Legacy team is well-equipped and experienced to help you address these questions—if He has called you, He will equip you! 2024 was my first Camp Life experience, and I asked several of these same questions. Several months later, I have to say that Camp Life was one of my most fun experiences, and I saw God change me and many of the kids (including my own) through the two weeks I participated. We are confident that your time in Zambia will be INCREDIBLE and will leave a lasting impact on your life as well as the lives of the children in your Camp Life group. Thank you for joining us! If you have any questions, please send an email to your Missions Account Manager. Sincerely in Christ, John Hasse President and CEO of Family Legacy

This is the first time I have gotten to share my faith and the gospel with other people. I have grown in my confidence of sharing Gods word due to the receptiveness and eagerness to learn of the children of Lusaka West. This was also the first time that I have prayed for someone to accept Jesus into their heart. Feeling the power of that moment gives me the urge to continue sharing the word of the Lord. at Camp Life, I really got to see my siblings in a completely different light. I felt I got to see Luke step up as a leader and really connect with kids in a new way. For Meg I got to see be mature and step up. I believe this will deep my relationships with them just given that I have now seen a different side of them. As for the relationships with my parents, I felt like this was bonding experience that will be something we can look back at together." — Cameron Langley | Camp Life 2024 Participant

W HY ZAMBIA? Located in Sub-Saharan Africa, Zambia is a nation that has experienced the devastation of HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty. The impact of this has resulted in a population largely comprised of children. With a population of over 21.70 million people, 4 2 % of Zambia’s population is age 14 or under. At Family Legacy, we seek to serve the most vulnerable of these children through inviting them to experience the hope of Christ and providing a transformative education.

" I believe that the leadership required of me during Camp Life has been very transformative in me, and I am excited to take back these newfound qualities and implement them in my daily life in the United States. Having to be in charge of 9 boys of different ages taught me about servant leadership and putting their needs first; as well as patience with a very active 5-year-old. I also got out of my comfort zone and enjoyed singing and doing motions to camp songs. Another area that was new to me was allowing kids to climb all over me or to sit in my lap. Most mornings I went to the field/play area very early and reserved my group’s table for the day. I did my devotional and ate breakfast about forty- five minutes before I would go up to the Legacy Center for a morning worship with my Zambian partners. This was the time of day where I would feel the closest to God. Worshipping with believers from another culture was awesome. I hope that I never forget how humbled I was this week in realizing how much I have to be grateful for and not complaining about my circumstances. "

WHAT WE DO At Family Legacy, our work is focused on one goal: serving the vulnerable and orphaned children of Zambia so they can live up to their God-given potential. We accomplish this goal through inviting them to experience the hope of Christ and providing a transformative education.

Camp Life is a cornerstone of Family Legacy’s mission to bring hope and transformation to Zambia’s most vulnerable children. It is a powerful, week-long experience for both the children we serve and the ambassadors who travel to Zambia to serve alongside us. Year after year, children by the thousands and ambassadors by the hundreds come together to experience God’s grace and transformation through His Word and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our Legacy Academy program is our largest program that serves more than 10, 000 children. From school uniforms, textbooks, school supplies and more, we provide the tools for students to begin their educational journey. The Legacy Academy school network includes 18 private-Christian schools in 17 communities surrounding Lusaka, each filled with a dedicated staff to help students reach their God-given potential academically, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

The Tree of Life Children’s Village is a transitional full-time living facility for children who have faced situations no child should have to experience. Children admitted into the Tree of Life may suffer from extreme medical conditions and their guardians are unable to provide necessary care or their home situation is unsuitable for the child to live. Spanning over 130-acres the Tree of Life has a neighborhood of homes, a school, access to quality healthcare, playgrounds, and more.

The reality of graduating from high school is a distant dream for many of the children that first enter our program. Going to a trade school or even graduating from university is an even bigger feat. The Excel Beyond program was created to give students yet another opportunity to go beyond the normal classroom and hands-on achieve their wildest dreams of becoming a professional in their preferred field or learn a trade to become employed.
