THREE HONEY-BASED FACIAL MASKS

AVOCADO, YOGURT, AND HONEY

INGREDIENTS:

Half an avocado One tablespoon of yogurt One teaspoon of honey

Benefits: this mask provides light exfoliation and a super boost of hydration. Rich in healthy fats, vitamins, and antioxidants, avocado is very hydrating, and contains the alpha hydroxy acid lactic acid, which acts as a chemical exfoliant. And finally, the honey adds an extra boost of hydration.

HONEY, CINNAMON, AND LEMON JUICE

INGREDIENTS:

Two tablespoons of honey The juice from one lemon slice One teaspoon of cinnamon

Benefits: this sweet blend targets inflammation and dark spots. Honey is antibacterial, wound healing, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, and an antioxidant. Use the other two ingredients sparingly. Although cinnamon has antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, I recommend using it with caution as a DIY ingredient because it can be very irritating to the skin. People can also develop allergic reactions to it. And as for the lemon juice? It's often recommended in DIY skin care because it has vitamin C, which is a great antioxidant. It also has antimicrobial and astringent properties. But, it can be very irritating to the skin and can also make the skin more sensitive to sunlight. Noted. Go light on the lemons and wear SPF.

OATMEAL, YOGURT, AND HONEY

INGREDIENTS:

Two tablespoons of oats One teaspoon of honey One teaspoon of yogurt

Benefits: this mask cleanses and exfoliates the skin. Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties and helps skin maintain its barrier function. A strong barrier is crucial to protect skin from external threats such as pollution and to trap in water to maintain skin’s moisture levels. Yogurt works as a gentle chemical exfoliant, and honey, once again, hydrates.
