This community support enabled the CFM to take a leap of faith during the pandemic. In May of 2020, they launched CFM2GO, an online marketplace, to ensure Islanders could continue sourcing local food during the closure of the indoor market. The uptake from loyal and new customers was incredible and provided vendors with a much needed means of selling their products during the lockdown. While the in-person market has fully reopened, CFM2GO continues to provide convenient online shopping and free pick-up twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays, as well as home delivery in Charlottetown for $5 every Thursday. For many Islanders, a visit to the Charlottetown Farmers’ Market (CFM) is a beloved Saturday morning ritual that hits all the right notes. After all, it’s the only place on PEI where you can stock up on fresh ingredients from Island farms, enjoy a delicious lunch, pick up a unique artisan piece, and get treats for the kids, all while supporting over 60 local vendors. But the CFM is more than just a place to shop locally and eat good food. It’s also a gathering place and a testament to the strong community ties that make PEI such a special place.
