The City of Irvine, Irvine Unified School District (IUSD), and Tustin Unified School District (TUSD) are working together to develop pedestrian and bicycle safety action plans to encourage safe and active travel to school. Suggested Routes to School (SRTS) focuses on how to make walking, bicycling, and rolling easier and safer for students, but the recommendations on neighborhood streets benefit us all! The SRTS project will result in 45 maps and a set of prioritized projects for each public school in the City. Each SRTS assessment will be tailored to individual schools with the locations of any nearby bicycle facilities and traffic control devices, such as traffic signals and stop signs. It will also include specific recommendations for improvements.
