The Phipps family's legacy in this region began when their ancestors arrived in 1886, eventually settling on Calf Creek in 1905. Over the years, the ranch has evolved into a prominent operation specializing in yearling steer management, cow-calf production, and the breeding of high-quality American Quarter Horses. The ranch's dedication to excellence in horse breeding was recognized in 2011 when they received the AQHA Legacy Breeder Award, honoring 50 consecutive years of breeding American Quarter Horses. The broodmares at Phipps Land & Livestock are descendants of some of the greatest Quarter Horses of all time, including King, Leo, and Peter McCue. By integrating these foundational bloodlines with contemporary cowhorse and running lineages, the ranch produces horses that are true athletes with versatile minds. These horses excel in various disciplines, from ranch work and roping to barrel racing and family riding.
