EDUCATION SUPPORT

Ronald McDonald House Houston was the very first location in the world to have an on-site school program for resident patients. In 2023, we received a grant from the Houston Independent School District which provides a full-time Director of Education. Our education program includes an in-house school, access to zoned community schools, a Pre-K program, and enrichment.

“Having her go to school, even during this time is so important because it means there is a reason to keep studying.” Monica Mwangi HOSPITALITY CART

Our Hospitality a la Carte is stocked with snacks, toiletries, reading material and activities for parents and caregivers in the Neonatal and Postpartum units at Memorial Hermann Hospital Northeast (Houston) and Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas (Beaumont). Staffed by smiling volunteers, the Hospitality Cart is a cheerful break in the hospital day.

“Having the support of RMHC is priceless and so is the Hospitality Cart. We hope the cart and the donated items provide families with some solace during an uncertain time.” Dr. Snehal Doshi, neonatologist at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas

C.H.E.E.R. ROOMS

Ronald McDonald C.H.E.E.R (Children’s Health Education Enrichment Resource) Rooms provide a colorful and educational space for children to wait while their mothers receive prenatal care at UTMB Regional Maternal and Child Health Program clinics. Young children participate in supervised activities while their mothers consult with medical providers about their health and the health of their unborn baby.

“Through this program, we are helping expectant mothers have a healthier pregnancy and helping their unborn children to be born healthier.” Carolyn Nelson-Becker, Ed.D,M.S.
