CHAT Academies - Head of Estates and Facilities

General

• To work closely with the Leadership teams in the MAT academies in ensuring that the sites and facilities of the academies provide an effective and high quality environment in which the MAT can achieve its objectives. • To manage the Estates team and work with them to ensure that the MAT buildings and site are clean, safe, secure, accessible and welcoming; to ensure the correct distribution of deliveries so that supplies and equipment required by students and staff are available when needed; be responsible for cleaning supplies, equipment and spares, and to update the records relating to them. • To manage effectively the duties of Buildings and Facilities staff in the areas of accommodation and resources, recruiting and providing induction to new staff within the areas of responsibility. • To oversee and plan, including training, the work of the Buildings & Facilities staff, to cover a wide range of repairs and maintenance work as required. • To provide appropriate support for Buildings and Facilities staff as required; to be hands on and provide cover, as required, for members of the team. • To promote teamwork and to motivate staff to ensure effective working relationships. • To carry out supervisory duties to ensure a good working atmosphere and encouraging team spirit,

ensuring good timekeeping, dealing with individual and group issues, and seeing that work is completed correctly, promptly to a high standard. • To operate a shift system and make adjustments as required so as to provide cover and arrange additional working as necessary. • To be available to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and occasional weekends, as the operational needs of the Trust require. • To review the work of Buildings & Facilities staff regularly and agree individual action plans. • To advise on Buildings & Facilities staffing needs, determine working arrangements to meet the needs of the academy and Trust, within budgetary provision, design job descriptions, person specifications, and assist with the recruitment of relevant staff. • To manage, audit and review the CHAT cleaning staff as well as external agency cleaners. • Ensure all cleaners are well trained and meeting the standards required for a clean, healthy and safe environment in line with COSHH, IOSH and NEBOSH.
