ROCKLAND | Le 18 octobre dernier, parents, enfants et travailleuses en soins aux enfants ont célébré le 40 e anniversaire des services de garde publics à Clarence- Rockland. Plusieurs activités ont été organisées à l’aréna Jean-Marc Lalonde pour les enfants afin de rendre hommage aux neuf centres municipaux de garde d’enfants de Clarence-
Rockland qui accueillent pas moins de 700 enfants. Il s’agissait également d’une occa- sion pour les parents d’en apprendre da- vantage sur les impacts positifs des services de garde publics. Il a aussi été question des modifications de la formule de financement du gouvernement provincial, qui a des ré- percussions sur le coût, pris en charge par les familles, des services de garde d’enfants.

Mr. Carl Grimard, my competitor and fellow candidate for the position of municipal councillor for Ward 3, claims in the October 15 edition of the Vision that if people want an ‘’HONEST’’ and ‘’RESPECTFUL’’ councillor, they should elect him.The inference in his statement is that I, as your current councillor in Ward 3, am not ‘’honest’’ and ‘’respectful’’. To this, I reply with the following: How does an individual who is not honest and respectful win the trust and confidence of voters in 14 successful political campaigns, including the past four years as your councillor of Ward 3? As an honest and respectful representative of my ward, member of the City Council and 70 years resident of Clarence-Rockland, I have been involved in many fund raising activities that have generated nearly a million dollars, an initiative I wish to continue to pursue by creating a fund raising committee for our municipality. A dishonest and disrespectful councillor could not have done so. What has Mr. Grimard accomplished since moving to Clarence-Rockland?
