Honor Societies
The following activities and opportunities are designed to help you reach your academic aspirations and career readiness goals. Please contact us for more information and to confirm details, as our program offerings may vary over time. Combined Program Pathways
For high-achieving students, the Order of Sword and Shield National Honor Society recognizes excellence in all homeland security- related disciplines. Membership provides not only academic recognition but also opportunities for networking and professional development within the homeland security mission space. Reference letter requirements are waived for PATHWAYS participants. We are working to include additional honor societies. Honors Summer Seminars Deepen your academic experience by participating in our Honors Summer Seminars. These seminars may be offered online, in person or in a hybrid format in May or June and are led by senior faculty who offer an engaging and interactive exploration of specialized topics. A past seminar examined the significance of monsters in popular culture, providing an immersive and intellectually stimulating environment. Successfully completed Honors Summer Seminars can be used to meet requirements for the Worldwide Campus Honors Program that is being developed.
By enrolling in our Combined Program Pathways, you have the opportunity to
shorten your educational timeline, obtaining both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in as few as five years. Our integrated programs enable you to begin taking graduate courses while still finishing your undergraduate degree, which helps you save both time and money on tuition. Fields like Emergency Services, Human Security and Resilience and Occupational Safety Management offer pathways for you to launch your career faster with advanced academic preparation. Student Interest Groups Build community and pursue personal interests through Student Interest Groups, such as the Economics and Aviation Fiction Reading Groups. These spaces allow you to connect with peers who share your interests while engaging in meaningful discussions and activities outside the classroom. Students who are interested in starting an Interest Group can contact the PATHWAYS director.
