Mitre Linen was established in the early 20th century by the Lawrence family. After World War II, the company moved to Wardrobe Place by St Paul’s Cathedral in the City of London. The name ‘Mitre’ comes from the elaborate headdress worn by the Bishop of St Paul’s, whose ceremonial garments were stored in Wardrobe Place.

After the war, finding textiles was difficult, and the company began specialising in the sale of butter muslin to retailers. We began to grow and became renowned for the quality and range of our products and outstanding service. In 1955, we were awarded Her Majesty the Queen’s Royal Warrant. In 2000, Mitre relocated to Wales, where we make, source and supply the best linen, bedding and soft furnishings to customers in the UK and beyond. Mitre achieved a significant milestone in 2024 with the appointment of the King’s Royal Warrant. The warrant specifically recognises our commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance, highlighting our dedication to excellence, quality, service, and the responsible sourcing of sustainable products.
